You Gotta Go to Grow

f I were to ask you how many live events you attend each month or maybe each year, what would your answer be? Your answer will be very reflective of where your business is today.
There is no doubt that I would not have been blessed in my business if I didn't attend live events.
Live Events can do the following for your business:
  • Increase your visibility
  • Connect you with potential joint venture partners
  • Assist you in growing your business
  • Help you grow your list
  • Form new connections
  • Provide opportunities for speaking/sharing your expertise
Attending a live event is the first step. The second step is to make sure you have a Visibility Strategy Plan in place. It is not enough to just show up, talk to those at your table, collect information and then go home.
Before I attend any live event I craft a Visibility Strategy Plan to maximize any opportunity that I have to connect with someone.
Here are my tips:
1.) Attend live events that you know you can either grow from, connect with your ideal client or both. As an entrepreneur you know how important it is maximize your time. Therefore, attending random events just for the sake of attending is not a great use of your time.
2.) Make it a point to meet between 4-6 people who you don't know. Make time to really talk to them, learn something new about them, and see if there is any referral or assistance you can provide to them. (Remember authentic networking is not about seeing what you can gain from each person you meet.)
3.) Many events offer you a 30 sec or a 60 sec commercial. What I use those for is to share with them in one sentence what I do. The next sentence I share what the results my clients tend to see. Then I invite them to meet me at the end of the event to learn more if they are interested. I keep it short and simple, and I have always had a couple of people come to speak with me after the event.
4.) Some events allow you to come to a mic and ask a question or share a thought. That is a great opportunity to share your name and the name of your business. Remember the key is to maximize your visibility at each event.
5.) You probably heard that age-old saying, "the fortune is in the following". That is true, but the piece that I think is always missing is how being timely in your follow up is crucial to the success of that contact.
With any aspect of your business you need to plan out how you plan to grow your business. The next time you plan to attend a live event, make sure you have crafted a Visibility Strategy Plan.
